Lunch with Brian

Home Slice Pizza, January 14, 2009

You can get slices at Home Slice. You can get a full pizza, too. Every so often Brian suggests we split a pizza, but I'm just not into splitting a pizza. You have to agree on the ingredients, and that's too much like lunch by committee. I'm sure Brian thinks I'm nuts because I'm so particular.

I got two slices of pepperoni and one slice of cheese. I think Brian got one slice of sausage and one slice of pepperoni. I should have paid closer attention to his order since I blog about it and all.

The place gets packed pretty quickly, so you have to get there just when it opens to avoid a wait. We did. People were lining up, but Brian was swift and got to the door before a lot of them. I had to work my way through the crowd to catch up. Brian secured a great booth for us.

Since it's always crowded in there, you can barely hear the music. Brian's good at figuring out what music is playing, though, and he started singing along with David Bowie and Freddie Mercury:

And love dares you to change our way of
Caring about ourselves
This is our last dance
This is our last dance
This is ourselves
Under pressure

Then Brian talked about how he burnt the roof of his mouth on pizza at Home Slice one time and that it hurt for days. He says now he chats for a while after the pizza comes to let it cool down.

I like Home Slice a lot. Be warned, though: They don't open until 11:30, and they're closed all day Tuesday. We've been burned a few times showing up at 11:00 or on a Tuesday.
